In November 1995 a Patients Participation Group was formed to assist the Staff at the Harvey Practice Surgeries in Broadstone and Merley. This later turned into the Friends of the Practice Group and has raised funds to purchase equipment required by the Doctors and to assist patients in various ways when needed. The money is raised by the sale of books in the Surgeries, handing out tubes of Smarties and asking patients to fill them with coins when empty and raffles, etc. at the 'Flu Jab days. To date £4,100 has been raised and we have purchased a sygmoidoscope, eleven Laerdal pocket resuscitation masks, a cauterising machine, ear thermometers, two chairs for use in the waiting rooms by disabled people and two ECG machines. Part of the funds for the latter were provided by the British Heart Foundation.

Any help or ideas which can be offered would be appreciated. The Secretary of the Friends is Mrs. Eileen Jones, 71 Albert Road, Corfe Mullen (Tel. 693436).
