TWO PENNY CORNER BH18 8DHYour editor searches diligently for information that can be relayed to those entrusted to write a History of Broadstone. When he came across the above address in an advertisement in the Parish Magazine he thought that he had happened across something from the penny farthing era. Not so but nonetheless interesting. Apparently in 1995 two men sat down to discuss over lunch, a possible joint business venture. One had a wealth of experience in the Building Society movement and the other had worked for a long time in an estate agency. Thus Pilgrims was formed and the change from £1 for each of the lunches was kept as a symbol of the birth of the partnership. Mike Riding and Tony Hill started their business at 226A The Broadway and moved to Two Penny Corner in 1997. Two Penny Corner is where York Road meets the Broadway. previous | Archive Winter 2000 | next Say you saw it on "Broadstone NET" |
