TED LOADERI'm Ted Loader, and as some of you will know, I am the Area Warden for Area 7. This part of Broadstone comprises Cowslip Rd, Mallow Close, Dogwood Rd., Sundew Rd., Kingcup Close, Sorrel Gardens, which is where I myself live, Stonecrop Close and Spindle Close. After a career in the public service it comes naturally to do some voluntary work in the local community. As some of you will recall I started as the deputy warden assisting Don Shemilt. When he was forced to give up due to ill health, I was ready to step into his shoes. I'm proud to say that I am a local man. I was educated at Poole Grammar School where I showed an aptitude for foreign languages which led me, after the University of Southampton and the Sorbonne University, Paris to more than 20 years with HM Diplomatic Service. Although I have been fortunate to tour the world, ending up with a three year tour at our Embassy in Peking, I always considered Poole to be the best place in the world to live. I believe that Poole is truly worthy of the considerable efforts made to keep it a beautiful place. Altogether, my wife and! have been away from the area for 35 years. When the time came to retire it had to be Poole. I believe that Residents Associations play an important part in the local community and I am very pleased to make my contribution to the smooth running of our own. I am also a member of the Prison Visitors Association and a Lay member of the Education Admission and Exclusion Appeals Panel of Dorset County Council. My hobbies include walking, swimming and D.I.Y. If the Editor allows me the space, I would just like to say that my pet hates are: Litter, Graffiti and Road Rage. previous | Archive Summer 2001 | next Say you saw it on "Broadstone NET" |
