BROADSTONE MIDDLE SCHOOL

At Broadstone Middle School we are encouraged to lead a healthy lifestyle in many ways. As well being aware of healthy eating there are other aspects of school life which develop our knowledge.

In our normal school day we try to follow the 4cs - Care, Cooperation, Consideration and Courtesy and we are reminded of these on a regular basis.

We are encouraged to walk to school, although years seven and eight (the upper half of the school) have the choice to cycle. We have to be considerate to each other and members of the public, as Dunyeats Road can be dangerous.

To keep personally fit and healthy we have two hours of physical education each week. As well as after school clubs, we have interclass sports events, which encourage teamwork.

In winter we take part in cross country on the local heath, sloshing in the muddy bog!! Some people develop some strange illnesses that week!

In Food Technology lessons and Personal Social Health Education we are given guidance on healthy eating and some try to carry this out. You might know crisps have recently been banned on the grounds of the high fat content and also to protect our environment, as crisp packets have been a problem on the playground.

Healthy relationships are also vital at our age. They are a good reason for coming to school! Each year we are sorted into new classes with different people, helping us to expand our friendship circles.

Our bullying and behaviour policies are carried out as much as possible through the year.

Keeping healthy for children and teenagers is of great importance, as we are growing every day. Healthy diets, regular exercise, an active social life, a healthy mind and making sensible choices are what keep us going!
