BROADSTONE COMMUNITY CHOIRThe Broadstone Community Choir has a new Musical Director, Stephen Gregson, who is, among other things, a choral conducting trainer for the International Sing for Pleasure movement. The Spring Concert in March, under Elizabeth Davidson, included a performance of Benjamin Britten’s interesting but controversial work “Rejoice in the Lamb,” based on text by Christopher Smart, the religious but disturbed 18th century poet. This was the last item in a programme including works by Weelkes, Handel, Verdi and others. Formed in 1991 by Mr. Don Hills, who was its Chairman, we enjoyed working under Elizabeth Davidson for eleven years. We now have approximately 40 mixed voices. Rehearsals have commenced under Stephen Gregson, and we hope to revert to having a Christmas Concert and a Summer concert each year, with each performed in both Broadstone and Lytchett Minster. The Broadstone Community Choir is affiliated to the National Federation of Music Societies, “Making Music.” In common with other choirs, we are looking for tenors and basses. Please contact our Chairman David Lovell on 01202 694437 if you are interested in joining us. Say you saw it on "Broadstone NET" |
