Broadstone Art Society
Broadstone Art Society is one of the leading art groups in this part of the country. It is a very active section of the Broadstone Club and is very fortunate to be base in the Broadstone Community Centre in Dunyeats Road, Broadstone.
Although basically an amateur art society, the standard of work produced is high, especially as there are a small number of professional and semi-professional artists among its ninety members.
Two major and usually well-attended and successful exhibitions are mounted each year, one in the spring and one in the autumn, coinciding with the school half-term weeks, held at the Community Centre. There are regular demonstrations, workshops, life classes and talks by visiting tutor-artists during the spring and autumn terms, when members meet twice a week. In the summer term there is a planned programme of painting sessions at outdoor venues.
As the membership numbers are restricted, there is always a waiting list of artists applying to join the society.
