Friends of Broadstone Nature Reserve AGM

The Annual Meeting for the Friends of Broadstone Nature Reserve was held on the 18th Jan. Apart from the cold outside, the library heating had broken down, so it was a fairly quick meeting. There was a short talk on Poole Agenda 21 and its aims, and the Warden's Summary of the state of the Reserve. Most creatures struggle to survive, but last year dragonflies were a great success. The Friends have working tasks coming up on 6th Feb and 5th March, 10.00AM Fontmell Road Entrance.

RSPB

The next RSPB meeting is a talk about Birds on Portland Thurs 13th, 7.30 pm at Upton Community Centre. A Poole Harbour bird-boat trip is scheduled for Sunday 6th 11.00 am, and a WAREHAM Channel trip on Sunday 20th. The latter starts from Sandbanks at 10.30AM. Dorset Countryside Volunteers

Dorset Countryside Volunteers will be working in the Bourne Valley LNR on 19th and 20th, helping the wardens to clear willow from the banks of the Bourne. Wet and Sloshy for mud lovers.

Local Environment Agency Plan

Don't forget the Local Environment Agency Plan, for the Piddle and Frome river catchment areas, plus Purbeck and Poole. In particular the Agency deals with water management, flooding, pollution and to some extent environmental preservation and improvement.
