Signs of Autumn with lots of falling leaves and pine needles, and also a falling thermometer. Also, of course, a little rain to revive my attempt at a butterfly meadow. After a very slow start to the year, it turned out quite well for butterflies with lots of clouded yellows and painted ladies making it across The Channel. They seemed to like patrolling the golf course.

Migrant birds are passing through on their way South, and there are quite a lot of events in the Purbeck area looking at what's around. Ring Durlston for details. Poole Wardens are running a conservation task at Upton Country Park, tomorrow (2nd Sep) at 14.00, and a walk '25 years at Upton' on Sep 20th at 14.30 hrs. Both meet at Heritage Centre.

On Upton Heath, DWT have a conservation work party on Upton Heath (Sep 14th, 10.00 am) and a Conservation Day on 24th. Ring the number below for details.
