First flowers in the Garden, but none as yet in our Local Nature Reserve.

The friends of Broadstone Nature Reserve had a successful annual meeting on 17th Jan, and extended their scope to cover Pocket Park if the Wardens needed further assistance. They will be working on the Reserve 4th Feb and 4th March (10 am) Fontmell Rd Details 2550760.

RSPB conservation work at Arne is on the first weekend in the month 3rd/4th Feb, 3/4 Mar. Details 385324. There is boat trip to see what's in the harbour on 18th at 11.00am, and a longer trip up the river towards Wareham on 25th. (Tel 01929 462383)

DWT have work parties on Upton Heath. (Thurs 8th, and Sunday 25th, Tel 777862). Meet at Upton Country Park, 10.00am.

For mudlarks, Dorset Conservation Volunteers (Tel 671435) will be working in Bourne Valley along the stream on 17th/18th. Meet end of Evering Ave. 10.00 am.

Poole Countryside are running guided walks on 17th at Upton Country Park, 14.30 , and on Canford Heath on 4th March - 14.00 at Francis Avenue.

National Trust have an attractive walk on their Studland Reserve on 14th Feb, details 01929 450259.
