Warmer weather at last, and most things are really moving. Also of course, foot and mourh restrictions are being lifted, though still not everywhere. I was at the DWT Reserve at Powerstock yesterday, and that is still closed. Not much sign of migrant butterflies yet, though a Painted Lady was on the beach at Studland today. I was also lucky enough to hear my first cuckoo this morning - unusual for where I live - which again is a migrant who has made it despite generally unfavourable winds. The friends of Broadstone Nature Reserve are having a walk round their own Reserve with the Warden next Saturday (9th at 2.00 PM). Their annual walk on Corfe Hills to hear and see nightjars is on July 6th, 8.00 PM at Corfe Hills School. Dorset Conservation Volunteers will be digging another pond in Bourne Valley on 23/4th June. A great task for mud lovers. (671435 for details), and the local DWT group has work parties on Upton Heath. (Tel 777862). The dragonfly walk on Upton Heath has started, and so far large red damsel flies are the clear winners. Poole RSPB has an evening boat trip along the Purbeck Coast to see the nesting seabirds. This is at 7.00 PM on 9th June. Book on 462383! Otherwise lots of interesting events in the Greenlink Guide, - birds,
boats, bikes - fish, flowers, forests - something in there for everyone.
