Safely returned from the Galapagos. Its a marvellous place to visit, and on land there are virtually no predators. As a result, the birds and iguanas have absolutely no fear, even of tourists, and one could (if allowed) reach out and touch them. Its almost the same in the water, with thousands of sea-lions wanting to play. Memories to last a life time. Back to Broadstone, and a lovely start to the year. So many early butterflies this year, and already I have seen several pairs mating, which should set up the populations for their second brood. Quite a number of activities this month with BoP leading events at Canford Heath (14/04, 2.00 PM), and Upton Country Park (15/04, 2.30PM). DWT are staging walks round Wild Sandbanks (14/04 9.30AM), and Brownsea (27/04 2.00PM). Local Conservation tasks are being run Friends of Broadstone Nature Reserve (FBNR 21/04) and DWT on Upton Heath. Birboats within the Harbour have finished for the year, but coastal cruises to see our Heritage Coast will start again in May. Tel 558550 for details. Activities over a wider area are listed in the Greenlink publication.
