Very much the end of the year. Migrant birds have nearly all passed through, and the winter visitors are now enjoying the warmth (or otherwise) of the harbour. Best way to see the visitors is the RSPB guided boat trip round the harbour. There is one this Sunday 4th, and the next will be on 15th Jan 2006.(463203 for details) Thanks to the rain at the start of the month, there was quite a good show of fungi, but we do not have a local expert to give a guided walk. In fact the County seems short of specialists, which is a pity since we seem to get such a variety, but certainly safer than pseudo experts. Plenty of varied activities to be found in Dorset Coast and Countryside magazine. Telephone 01305 225037 for a free copy in the post. (There is even a Christmas Day swim across Weymouth Harbour) Local walk by BoP is Canford Heath on 11th Dec, and on the same day Dorset Bird Club are bird spotting at Upton Country Park (9.30 AM, tel. 884788) Useful Numbers of organisations running tasks or walks:-
