Environmental News December 2006
Not long to the shortest day now, and everything will start to look forward to the Spring.
Still a few flowers and fungi round Broadstone but looking decidedly washed out.
Leaves falling down by the ton, but it does make it easier to spot any remaining birds.
Most exciting thing locally was the otter in Hatchpond. He/she seems to have moved on now, but it really was an unusual event to have an otter in a static pool.. Still some very late butterflies around, and I saw a passing red admiral as recently as 28th Nov.
This month Borough of Poole are looking at Canford Heath (Gravel Hill, 14.00 3rd Dec), and RSPB are active at Arne, Radipole and Lodmoor. There is also a boat round Poole Harbour on 10th (01929 462383).
Still a varied lot of activities, including some for children. All to be found Coast and Countryside.
