Broadstone Residents' Association - February 2002

At the committee meeting, held on 28th Feb. 2002, the Chairman raided the matter of the sale of Council (green belt) land at Portmore Close. He was recommending to the Council that since the land was originally part of Delph Woods, some of the received money should be spent on improving the site.

We had also received a reply about ambulances using Dunyeats Road. It would seem that with the current distribution scheme for waiting ambulances, one was parked on Gravel Hill, and Dunyeats Road was the direct route to most of Broadstone and Corfe Mullen.

There was to be a further meeting over the toast rack, at which the relative merits of the Residents Survey, and the Chamber of Trade's preferred option would be discussed. The Chairman expressed his disappointment over the fact that the chosen Residents' alternative was likely to be discounted, despite the relatively large number of votes in favour.

The Association together with the Chamber of Trade, were preparing a congratulatory message for the Queen's Jubilee. The message would be accompanied by sheets of signatories from Broadstone. These sheets would be available for signing at sites around the ward.

The Planning Officer had been to a Council Briefing on proposals to change the current Structure Plans/Local Plans system into a single Local Development Framework. He was also investigating the apparently 'instant' closure of footpaths around Selby Close.

Corfe Hills. A successor to departing Headmaster, Andrew Williams, was to be appointed in March.

Arrangements for the AGM on 16th May, were progressing well, and the two speakers had agreed to give talks about the rebuilding and renovation of the Methodist and Anglican churches.

Next meeting is on April 11th, at which the Spring Newsletter will be distributed.
