| Broadstone Residents' Executive Committee Meeting - September 2003 | |
|
The Chairman noted that the timing of the new Puffin Crossing lights had been altered and traffic flows were much improved. He also mentioned the Open Forum of Poole Partnership that would take place on 24th Sept. There was some discussion on the progress of the new Broadstone History, which was a joint project with the Townswomens' Guild. This was due for draft completion by the end of 2003. BRA had attempted to consult the Dorset Constabulary over the Police Budget for 2004/5. We had also asked the Dorset Federation to approach the Police. Both approaches had received a polite rebuff, saying consultation was only carried out through a firm of private consultants. After a short discussion, it was decided that we should try to approach the Police via the Poole Members of the Police Authority - Councillors Mrs Stribley and Mrs Butt. Planning problems were mainly restricted to overdevelopment of existing sites, with the one outstanding question being the fate of the tree outside the new Methodist Centre. Magazine distribution had gone very well, with no problems due to the increased subscription. Chamber of Trade had started to receive a reasonable number of replies to the disabled questionnaire in the Magazine. The date for the Christmas Parade/Carnival is 6th December. The next Local Area Committee was to be held on 17th, at Merley First School. The agenda, apart from the route of Footpath 97, seemed to hold little of interest to Broadstone residents. Finally, there was a statement that work was progressing well on the Methodist Centre, and it was hoped to complete by the end of October, with a likely opening in Jan. 2004.
