| Residents Executive Committee Meeting, 18th March 2004 | |
|
The meeting decided that the next Exec. meeting should be on 22nd April, and this would allow distribution of the Spring Newsletter in good time for the AGM. Frank Meaton had arranged the educational visit to Whites recycling facility for mid April, a date which finally turned out to be 6th May. There had been a lot of activity in the Council, with meetings for the Local Area Committee, Poole Partnership, a Supplementary Planning Guidance on 'Shoreline Appearance' and a questionnaire about the Environmental Statement for the new bridge proposals. There were Residents' questions about the revised entertainment conditions for the 'Stepping Stones' pub, reservations about current noise levels from lorries using Gravel Hill, and some questioning of the quantity of heathland maintenance work in the recreation ground. The Chairman had received a letter asking for financial support for the youth section of Broadstone F. C., and supported this initiative. He also felt reasonably pleased with the Council Tax settlement, but felt we were still at the mercy of Police and Fire and Rescue precepts. The draw for winners of the 'Clock' competition, set in the Winter Mag. Was held, with Kate Ansell the winner. Planning was currently quiet, but several schemes that had been refused, were due for resubmission or appeal. The Newsletter was virtually printed and would be available on 22nd April. The chamber of Trade were unhappy about the poor response to the Christmas lighting scheme, and were going to hold a major raffle in the Summer with a view to raising at least £3000 for new lights for 2004. Brief discussions on the AGM, indicated that most Officers would stand again, but we were to have a new Education Officer - Mr Don Rogers, and that Frank Wood (Chief Warden) and John Sayers (Deputy) would exchange roles.
