The first decision was to make a grant to Broadstone in Bloom for plants, and it was decided to give them £150.00. BRA also voted to give £100 to the Community Choir for new covers and a conductor’s rostrum. There was some discussion about the Grange Road car park, but it seemed that the threats of substantial fines had been removed. The question of the clock that overlooks the Broadway was also raised, and it was agreed to look further at both costs and the electricity supply. Planning matters contained the usual mix of large and small developments. In particular BRA had formally objected to the flats at 2 Ridgeway, and to the excess number of dwellings at 46 Gravel Hill. Members agreed that the finished Manor House office block looked appropriate and neat for the setting, and whilst not suitable for wheelchair access from the Broadway, it had disabled facilities at the rear. The Newsletter was almost ready for printing, and extra copies would be ordered so that it could be delivered to all dwellings in the BH18 area. Chamber of Trade were considering ways to raise funds for the Christmas Lights, as last year’s raffle had only paid for hire of lights, not purchase. Broadstone First School had just received an extensive OFSTED inspection, and hoped for good results. The meeting closed with a discussion about higher levels of vandalism in the Ward, and the extent of current ASBOs. David Williams of Neighbourhood Watch, informed the meeting that PC Wyer was aware of the situation and was taking steps to rectify it. The next meeting would be on 7th April. For Broadstone.net
