Residents Association Executive Committee Meeting, 7th April 2005

Discussions started with the topic of the clock on the Broadway. This had not been working, but after a clean it seemed to be going well. Questions were asked about possibly a new mechanism, or even a new solar powered model, but no recommendations were made to look at changing it. At least one complaint had been received regarding bikes and skateboards round the Broadway, and adding that users of the small invalid buggies did not endear themselves to older pedestrians.

The revised Waste Plan had been tabled, and the threats of incinerators for Dorset had been removed for the time being. Council Tax had been pegged at a moderate figure, but as always was well in excess of inflation, leaving all those with a fixed income badly out of pocket. Planning queries were mainly concerned with over development (46 Gravel Hill, Weatherby Close and Ridgeway) but were all likely to go ahead in reduced form.

Articles for the Summer Magazine would be required by 1st July, for an August 4th Issue date.

The AGM and Quiz was to be on 19th May, and it was hoped for a larger attendance - possibly 100?

Vandalism. The latest Neighbourhood Watch reports showed a high level of criminality and vandalism in the village, most of it alcohol fired. CoT and BRA were jointly applying to the Council for the right to make Broadstone Centre an alcohol free zone, with possibly ASBOs to back it up. This request would be formally raised at the next Local Area Committee Meeting. In keeping with this theme the meeting closed with one or more youths running over the Library Roof.
