Residents Association Meeting, 6th October 2005

Notes for the meeting held on Thursday 6th October, 2005, in Broadstone Library. John Noyes was away, and John Milhofer took the chair.

The question of Broadstone as an alcohol free zone had been raised the previous evening at the LAC meeting, but no one was aware of the current state, and the feeling was that nothing had happened. Broadstone Middle had deferred the question of skirts or trousers pending consultation up till the start of the 2006/7 year.

The meeting was also told that our President, Ken Fleming, was selling his Broadstone house and moving to Derbyshire to be nearer his children. We are all sorry to see him go, and wish him well.

At last night’s LAC meeting, the question of Footpath 5 was raised, but like many thorny applications it was not making much progress.

The Millennium History was now virtually complete and nearly ready for publishing, but we had hit a snag in finding the £5000 necessary to set up and print the first 1000 copies. We may have to look at financing the costs ourselves.

There were some articles still to be provided, but the Editor felt it would be ready by Jan 12th 2006.

The Chamber of Trade had purchased new Xmas light displays, but installation costs had risen dramatically, and would make the display questionable in future years.

CoT has also started a quarterly newsletter regarding their activities. Copies available via e- mail.

Attainment levels at GCSE and A and A/S levels, have been very good.

Keystage results ( KS2 and KS3) have also been excellent. The School Standards Minister, Jacqui Smith has written to Poole LEA congratulating them on the results.
