Report on the Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday 12th January, 2006, in Broadstone Library. The Winter Magazine 2005/2006, was distributed to the wardens. Referring to previous meetings, it appeared that the attempts to get Broadstone centre as an alcohol free zone had been stalled. Responsibility was now with the Police, and they regarded Broadstone as a very crime-free place. Work was still progressing on the ‘History’, but we would need to get a final proof copy on disk before any publisher would give us a quote for costs of production. The planning application for Footpath 5 looked likely to succeed, as all interested parties were now in agreement. BRA had written to the Licensing Authority, objecting to the application by Leisure Services for an open license for Plainfield Farm and the Recreation Ground. There had been a large number of private objections to the scheme as well, and there was to be an enquiry on 24th Feb. We had been in contact with BoP about Council Tax, but the council were unwilling to move from their original 4.95 estimate. However subsequent developments seem to have lowered this figure. Discussions about the AGM were strongly in favour of the concert by the Community Band, but we had some logistical problems in moving the meeting into the church for the concert, and back for the refreshments. We have to be very slick over the formal business. The Band would accept a cheque for charity in lieu of payment. Chamber of Trade were well satisfied with the Xmas parade, and the Lights. However the high cost of installation and taking down, gave cause for thought, as it would be a continuing high cost each year. On the education front, the main topic, was the restructuring of Poole Schools and the harmonising of age groups. The LEA report was imminent. The next meeting was to be held on 23rd February.
