Residents Association Meeting, 6th April 2006
At the Executive Committee Meeting on 6th April, the subjects discussed were :-
Broadway clock. this had now been removed and sent to Southampton for refurbishment.
Footpath 5 has hit a snag, as English Nature had changed their mind about the route, and the preferred route would now require steps, which mak it unsuitable for disabled citizens.
Despite concerted opposition, the application for a block entertainment licence had been granted for Plainfield Farm.
The Treasurer tabled draft Annual accounts, which showed a stable financial situation, but meant if we wished to provide added support to Broadstone. Associations we would need to increase subscription rates for 2007
Education
Don Rogers indicated that the original plans for the Broadstone pyramid had been reviewed by local schools, who had realised that if they waited till 2016 for reorganisation, they would be at a great disadvantage compared to schools which would be getting development money very soon. This had caused a delay in finalising the Poole plan, which would now be issued at the end of the year.
There was a lively discussion on the future of the Association, as members felt it should be more pro-active in future. Possible topics that emerged were :-
- Future of Broadstone, commerce and retail
- Litter
- Planning and over development
- Council tax
- Green environment
- Policing and youth crime.
Of these, there was a sub-group formed for the fist topic, with others to come later.
Concerning the AGM in May, it appeared that the current Executive members would be willing to be re-elected, and that three interested members, Jill Floyd, Brian Lloyd and Bob Williams should be co-opted onto the Committee to provide wider experience.
