Residents Association Meeting, 22nd April 2007
Summary of the Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday 22nd April 2007.
The AGM Newsletter was distributed to the Wardens
We needed to thank Burkitt Accountants for the electricity supply to the Broadway Clock. There could still be a forthcoming bill for the final installation.
The treasurer handed out the final accounts which would be submitted to the AGM
These showed income (subscriptions and advertising revenue) was slightly up on last year, and we had the added bonus of good sales of The New History of Broadstone. So far 660 copies had been sold, and this covered our printing set-up costs and the special covers. Expenditure was in line with last year, and overall we had a surplus for the year of £2,400. We still have a commitment of £1000 toward footpath 5, but when, if ever, this might be needed is very uncertain.
There was a discussion as to how best express our thanks to the authors of ‘The History’ and in the end the meeting decided on vouchers from forum Jewellers.
We discussed the plans for refurbishment of the Broadstone Hotel again, and felt that the subject had not been well broadcast in the village. We could submit our own comments, but due to the timing of the application, the best we could do was to advertise on our own notice boards and via the local paper, inviting members of the public to write directly to Poole planning.
There was to be a meeting on 19thApril, to discuss extensions to the Broadstone Conservation Area, and one of the schemes could include The Broadstone Hotel.
From Neighbourhood Watch, we heard that our current support officer, Kelly Mitchell was moving on to train as a full Constable, leaving our area short of people once more. The Section 30 displacement orders had worked fairly well, but they expired at the end of the month and the Police were hoping to renew them.
At the end, a question was raised about the further distribution of green bins. It appeared the Council did not have enough money to buy one for every dwelling, so they were coming out in batches, but there was no fixed plan as to which part of Poole got the next batch.
The Newsletter gave details of the AGM which was to be at St John’s Church Hall, on 17th May, with a guest speaker from the RNLI.
