Millenium Gesture At the recent meeting of Broadstone Residents' Association the Committee decided that the planting of a mature tree in the War Memorial section of the Recreation Ground would be a suitable Millennium gesture. They have set up a sub committee to finalise which type of tree will be best. Alfred Wallace They also gifted £100 to the Alfred Wallace Memorial Fund, which aims to renovate and restore the grave in Broadstone Cemetery, that marks the resting place of this eminent scientist who did much to establish the theory of evolution. History of Broadstone Another project is to produce a more comprehensive History of Broadstone. Hopefully this work will involve Corfe Hills School, and the aim is to interview many of our very senior citizens whilst we still have the chance. Anyone wishing to help on the project should contact Margaret Roebuck on 693459. Motor Cycles The Chairman had attended the Meeting about motor cycles on Upton Heath, but since it was private land, with 12 land owners, it was extremely difficult to get any co-ordinated action. Delph Woods Access After action from the Association and local residents, the access from Portmere Close (far end of Greensleeves Avenue) into Delph Woods had now been designated as a Public Right of Way. The Association were responding to two recent Council initiatives The first is the Transportation Select Committee, which will look at transport needs for the next ten years, and make recommendations on how best to develop the Transport systems. The second is the Management Plan for the Upton to Merley Trailway. This is also open to individual public comment in the Library. The next meeting of the Committee will be on October 28th Dudley Hull
