Railway enthusiasts' Special
The train appears to be a railway enthusiasts' special: a passenger train with an LMS 8F 2-8-0 goods engine (very rare on the S & D), which has been polished up (look at the buffers), and idiots are hanging out of the train windows. I think this is one of the 2 specials run on Sunday 6.3.65, the last day the S & D was "open" (though there were no scheduled Sunday trains by then). Here it is coming into Broadstone from the Bath direction at midday (see the direction of the shadows of the boys in the foreground). [Information - John Saville]
