Shunting movement in the goods yard at Broadstone
Shunting movement in the goods yard at Broadstone
This seems to be a shunting movement in the goods yard at Broadstone, just beyond where the siding that went past the rear of the signal box divided into 2. The engine is a B4 dock shunter and is in Southern Railway livery, so the date must be before or very soon after 1948. It is carrying Brockenhurst to Bournemouth West via Wimborne headcode discs, so is probably about to take its train down to Poole yard. [Information - John Saville]
87 shunts the goods yard at Broadstone in the early 1950's, before going to shunt at the R.O.F Creekmoor, part of which is now the new Poole Pottery. Photo. John Sansom. [information - Graham Kelsey]
