FROM THE VICAR: We are now in the 'green season' of the Church's year – when altar hangings and vestments match the predominant colour of nature in the Sundays after Trinity. Some traditions call this 'Ordinary Time', but in a real sense there is nothing ordinary about it at all – no single day is exactly like another, but each presents itself with fresh possibilities.

Living in this beautiful part of the world, we can watch the ever-changing picture of Poole Harbour, with all its comings and goings; or go out into the countryside and take in the wonders of nature. Even another working day will hold opportunities to meet new people, or to learn something new about those we already know. There are new skills and knowledge to be acquired, new lessons to be learnt and good experiences to be repeated. Where there are bad experiences and mistakes, we can receive our Father’s forgiveness.

The priest and poet George Herbert put it in these familiar words:

Teach me, my God and King, In all things thee to see;

And what I do in anything To do it as for thee.

A man that looks on glass, On it may stay his eye;

Or, if he pleaseth, through it pass, And then the heaven espy.

Tomorrow has the potential of being another exciting day, even though it may be a part of 'Ordinary Time'. But we must not forget that there will be one day in our life when there will be no tomorrow – and then it will be too late to do anything about it and so much will have been wasted.
