FROM FR. GRAHAM SMITH : On June 8th, we travelled to North Norfolk to the Anglican Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham for a four-day Pilgrimage. The Shrine has undergone great developments and improvements over the past seven years and now provides an oasis of great beauty of which all Anglicans can be proud. The new Administrator is Bishop Lyndsay Urwin, formerly Area Bishop of Horsham. The quality of accommodation has improved significantly with the opening of the newly-completed Milner Wing. The modern refectory provides good food and as always, the worship is beautiful and uplifting.
The Pilgrims went to deepen their spiritual life and draw even closer to our Saviour, Jesus Christ. They went to a place of peace, healing And reconciliation. We honoured Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who points us to her divine Son and, with the whole company of heaven, supported us with her prayers.
These are some reflections from those who went:
Thank you for having the privilege of four days of HEAVEN in the company of our dear Lord and Saviour. A comforting and peaceful Pilgrimage.
I went unsure of what I was going to, but I found it a very peaceful place. It was a wonderful experience and I will come again.
The quietness, tidiness and beauty of the place is such a contrast to the world we live in. My faith deepened and drew me closer to our Lord and our Lad. There is always something fresh and new to be found on Pilgrimage.
I came away from Walsingham with a stronger connection with my Christian faith. A smile comes to my face when I remember the Walsingham experience.
And there are many other comments to be found on the table at the back of the Church.
